A total of 1,028 young Maldivians have completed the National Service Initial Training Programme, hitting the milestone within the initiative's first operational year since launching on October 1, 2025. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted the achievement following the graduation of the third batch at the Maldives National Defence Force Composite Training Centre in Maafilaafushi, where 341 recruits from 112 islands wrapped up 15 weeks of intensive instruction. Beyond the core initial training, an additional 136 graduates successfully completed specialized follow-up courses to further sharpen their practical skill sets.
Throughout the program, recruits completed rigorous instruction covering civil education, leadership development, community volunteer firefighting, basic first aid, and physical fitness. The government has confirmed plans to expand the National Service Programme into technical, vocational, and maritime sectors as selection and interviews wrap up for the incoming fourth intake. The milestone marks a major step forward in building national youth capability and expanding structured civic pathways across the archipelago.
