The Maldives Police Service has revised its employment regulations to grant ongoing healthcare coverage and official honors to the families of officers who die in the line of duty.

Under the updated framework, surviving dependents of fallen officers will remain entitled to medical care under the police family healthcare scheme, bridging a previous regulatory gap that left families without designated medical coverage following an officer's death.Provision of these benefits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Executive Management Board, taking into account the specific circumstances of the line-of-duty incident and the officer's period of service.

In addition to health coverage, the amended regulations mandate that officers who lose their lives in active service will be accorded official state ceremonial funerals upon approval by executive leadership.
