The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the asphalt paving and surface laying on Segment 2 of the road, resolving the potholes and uneven surfacing that previously raised safety concerns for motorists

Reopening this stretch on Sunday will restore a critical east-west transit corridor through central Malé, easing severe traffic congestion around nearby school zones, commercial blocks, and government offices

Following Sunday's reopening, MTCC will immediately transition equipment to begin work on Segment 3 which stretches from the Izzuddin Magu junction to Koaru Kendi Hingun. Traffic diversions will be adjusted in that area as excavation and drainage works commence
